The text was written in April 1945 in the hospital Franja. It is dedicated to the fallen nurse Rudija Katrašnik-Gašper from Jamnik nad Kropo, who fell in Gornji Novaki in April 1944, while hiding wounded people from the Germans, who broke through from Sorica. The original handwritten manuscript is kept by the author, while the interwar copy is by Albin Weingerl. Fi 140, var. Se 206.»

Comrade Gašper, on your grave

I have brought white lilies to you
on your grave, comrade Gašper
so that with cups, white light
your quiet home would be, grave darkness
at least you would know that outside is spring …
Look, the pirate band has come again
to our sacred land, clatter
as last year, when you left us.

But now you do not weep
nor does spring breathe and nor does the cry echo
you sleep, hero.
In our memory you live
encouraging us in our work …
I have brought white lilies to you
I have brought with them a loving greeting
it is not strange if their flowers are blood-red
since they were watered by the blood of heroes
who gave their young strength
so that through the darkness of struggle and suffering
a better, free life shines.
