Bistrica pri Naklem - Memorial to the Victims

Bronze sculpture in the shape of a branching tree, on the ground 6 lying stone plaques.

Bronze sculpture in the shape of a thorned flower by sculptor Janez Boljka and granite
quadrates with the names of the fifty-nine victims, shot on 25th and 27th July 1942 on
Jurčkov hill. Author of the arrangement Danilo Oblak, 1986.

The original marking at this location consisted of two natural stones on concrete
bases. On the first stone was carved a message: OKUPATOR / IS ON THIS PLACE / IN
BISTRIŠKI HILL / 25. 7. 1942 / DESTROYED FIFTY-NINE /
LIVES. On the second stone were carved verses by Oton Župančič: FUTURE IS
FAITH / WHO DIES FOR IT / RISES IN LIFE / WHEN FALLS IN DEATH. The plan for the
monument was made by architect Nande Jocif, and it was ordered to be erected by the
local committee ZB NOV Podbrezje. It was unveiled on 1st October 1967.

NOTES: In spring 2014 the sculpture disappeared: about this were informed them. Renata Pamić
from the Institute for Monument Protection Kranj and the state archive ZZB for values of NOB Lj.
(2x, but without response); Pamić informed also the municipality of Naklo, but until a proposal for
some measure (still) has not come.
