Ciklostilna technique Galicija, Ljubljana

Description: On the flat stone quadrangle, in front there is a round tonalite plate with an engraved inscription. The monument, erected in 1979, is dedicated to the illegal ciklostilni technician Galicija, who operated in the nearby Ogrinova house in the years 1932–1934. The monument stands on the traffic island at the junction of Prijateljeve street and Gruberjevo embankment.
In February 1932, the temporary regional leadership began issuing the illegal newspaper Rdeči prapor. It was printed by Galicija, the illegal hand press, placed in the premises of the building that was the property of master Ogrin, on today's Prijateljev 15. This press experienced all the atmosphere and circumstances that required from the contemporary partisan units extreme caution and self-sacrifice, similar to what applied to all party presses with ciklostilni technique in Slovenia. The conspiracy required that only a small number of the contemporary members of the Ljubljana party organization knew where the technique was. The reproducers of the material did not know who had written the text and where the necessary material for the operation of the press came from. They also did not know in which direction and where the products of their work were going. The press was led by Oskar Kovačič. A significant role was also played by Fedor Kovačič, Marica Ogrinova, Tone Tomšič, Boris Vojnilovič, Mirko Kramar, Milan Goršič, Boris Kraigher, Vladimir Krivic and others.
