Initiative
for the installation of the memorial, which was discovered in June 1977, was taken by the fighters
of the II. group of detachments.

The plate
was made by the factory »IMP« in Ivančna Gorica.

First
Slovene brigade, II. group of detachments, established on April 5, 1942 in Kremenjek
moved on April 11, 1942 to the camp in Bojanski Boršt, located only a few kilometers away
from strong enemy outposts in Stična and Šentvid near Stična.

On April 18
the partisan camp was betrayed by Jože Fatur, who was from Vira near Stična, and he informed the Italians
of the location of the camp. The Italians immediately began preparing an attack from their outposts in Trebnje, Šentvid and Stična. The brigade's headquarters was promptly informed
of the betrayal and the Italians' intentions, so it sent a detachment led by Jože Kovačič
along the road from Trebnje to Stična through the Medvedjek woods. There, the detachment was ambushed by five trucks of the «black jackets» from Trebnje. After a sudden skirmish, the Italians had more casualties
and Jožet's detachment had to withdraw due to being surrounded. The Italians did not continue their advance towards Stična.

On the same
day, the traitor Fatur brought the enemy column from Stična to the camp itself, but it encountered
prepared partisans. After a brief and fierce battle, the Italians withdrew and returned to Stična.

Note 1: Franc Štibernik reports that in September 2023, ZB NOB Grosuplje replaced the stolen bronze plate
on the memorial in Bojanski Boršt with a marble plate of the same dimensions and the same inscription. They chose stone
due to the scarcity of bronze plates.
