Memorial for Bomb Victims on Alois Weidenhillinger Way

In the Salzburger Stadtteil Itzling, the monument for the bombing victims on May 1, 1985, was unveiled by the then Landeshauptmann Wilfried Haslauer sen. and Bürgermeister Josef Reschen. It commemorates the more than 500 victims of the bomb attacks between October 1944 and May 1945. The Stadtteil Itzling, where many NS-Widerstandskämpfer lived, was a target due to its proximity to the Salzburger Hauptbahnhof and railway yards. The monument is located between Alois-Weidenhillinger-Weg and the Ischlerbahnstraße and consists of a natural stone sculpture from which a metal flower protrudes. The monument symbolizes the reconstruction of the city of Salzburg under difficult conditions.
