Memorial for Victims of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Techelsberg/Teholica ob Vrbskem Lake

At the war memorial in Töschling in the municipality of Techelsberg am Wörthersee, the names of five men who did not die in the war service were listed among the names of soldiers missing in action from World War II. The five Witnesses of Jehovah from the community were murdered by the National Socialists due to their resistance. In order to correct this distortion of history and to honor the victims, the names of the five men were removed from the war memorial in 2017 and a separate memorial was erected for them in the immediate vicinity, directly at the entrance to Techelsberg am Wörthersee on the B 83 road. The inscription contains the names of the five murdered men and recalls further victims from the group of Witnesses of Jehovah in the community. The engraved poem is by the son and brother of two murdered men and was written by him while in concentration camp imprisonment.
