Christoph Probst, briefly a student in Innsbruck and member of the „Weiße Rose“, a Munich resistance group of young people, was beheaded in Munich-Stadelheim on 22.2.1942. On initiative of the Austrian Hochschülerschaft, the Academic Senate and the city of Innsbruck renamed the location in front of the main university building to Christoph-Probst-Platz. On 16.3.1994, Rector Hans Moser and Mayor Romuald Niescher (ÖVP) unveiled the name plaque. The renaming is considered an internal act, so that the address Innrain 52 remained unchanged.
