Brothers Barle

The plaque was unveiled on 15th July 1956 at the initiative of the municipal committee of ZZB NOV Medvode.

«BARLETOVA CESTA, MEDVODE

August Barle – Ambrož, born 22nd August 1901 in Preska near Medvode, railway worker, pre-war revolutionary, activist of OF from 1941 and organizer of the national liberation movement in Medvode and first secretary of the regional committee of KPS Medvode, later secretary of the district committee of KPS Medvode and member of KPS for Gorenjsko. Fell on 27th January 1944 during the retreat from the German encirclement during the attack on the party school in Cerknica as a listener at the party school.

Stanko Barle – Savo, born 24th November 1907 in Preska near Medvode, mason. Activist of OF from 1941 and member of the field committee of OF in Preska, on 9th March 1942 he fled from home before arrest and soon joined the Škofjeloški partisan unit. Later he operated in the area of Medvode as the organisational secretary of the district committee of KPS Medvode, on 5th November 1943 he was wounded while on the run and then captured, imprisoned in partisan prisons and shot on 31st January 1944 in Šentvid above Ljubljana as a partisan.»

The memorial plaque was unveiled on 15th June 1956.
