Second group of memorials, Črni kal

Memorial stone on the Black Kal is dedicated to units and fighters of the 2nd group of detachments, who stayed in this area and had their camps here during their march from Dolenjska to Styria in July 1942. It was discovered in 1952, access is from Gorenje Žetine.

In early July 1942, the II. group of detachments came and stayed on the Gorenjska for a good month. They decided on this route after they failed to pass through Dolenjska via the Sava to Styria. Together with the units of the Poljanski Battalion, they also attempted to liberate larger settlements in the Poljanska and Selška valleys. On 12th July 1942, they gathered on Gabrška Gora with the command of the I. group of detachments and the Poljanski Battalion. They prepared a common combat plan for the liberation of the Poljanska valley. However, the Germans disrupted these plans with their summer offensives. Thus, they surrounded the entire Gabrška Gora, and with the help of guides from the Loška unit and numerous casualties, the 2nd group of detachments managed to break through to the area of Blegoš. The Poljanska and Loška units, by carrying out actions in the Poljanska valley, enabled the majority of units of the 2nd group of detachments to cross the Selška valley and Jelovice and continue their march towards Styria. Their command, with commander Stane Rozman - Stanet and political commissar Dušan Kvedr - Tomaž, stayed on the Black Kal.
