Partisan Memorial at the Cemetery Kappel an der Drau/Kapla ob Dravi

In the old cemetery area at the back westward lies the grave of Franc Heberle. Franc Heberle was born in 1927 in Kappel an der Drau. In 1945, Heberle died at the age of 18 in the partisan conflict. Nothing is known about his exact circumstances of death. Other partisan fighters from Kappel an der Drau, such as Vilibald Olipic, who is buried in Unterloibl, are also buried there. The memorial for Heberle, erected in the 1970s by the Partisanenverband, consists of a white marble stele, whose front side shows a relief of a dying partisan. The design is typical for partisan memorials from this period, similar motifs can be found in Windisch Bleiberg, Ebental, Köttmansdorf or Abtei.
