Memorial Plaque - Great Family Bleier

On January 24, 2023, a commemorative plaque was inaugurated on the facade of House Hohe Warte 40. It remembers the Bleier family, who were the owners. After the National Socialists came to power in March 1938, ownership relationships were fundamentally changed through expropriation and "Arisierung." The NS regime pursued the family for antisemitic reasons. Arthur Bleier and Leonie Fischer (née Bleier) are named on the commemorative plaque by name. Arthur Fischer was deported to Theresienstadt on August 13, 1942, and liberated in 1945. Leonie Fischer was deported to Riga on January 26, 1942, and murdered in the Holocaust. Today, the Central Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics uses the house. A QR code is located on the commemorative plaque linking to detailed information about the history of the house and property.
