Memorial Plaque - Collective Living Quarters Haidgasse 12

On May 18, 2014, a bronze plaque was installed on the façade of House Haidgasse 12. It commemorates 45 Jewish women and men and three children who were forced by the national socialist regime into collective housing in order to deport them to ghettos and extermination camps and to murder them. Named are Sofie Hilfreich, Wilhelm Einziger, Johanna Einziger (born Hilfreich), and Hedwig Einziger. Hedwig and Johanna Einziger as well as Sofie Hilfreich were deported from Vienna to Lodz on November 2, 1941, and murdered in Chelmno on May 8, 1942. Wilhelm Einziger was deported from Vienna to Nisko on October 20, 1939, and murdered in the Holocaust.
