Gedenktafel Veza Canetti

On May 6, 2013, two commemorative plaques were unveiled on the façade of the house at Ferdinandstraße 29 in the district of Leopoldstadt, commemorating the writer Veza Canetti. Canetti lived in this house until 1934 and fled to Great Britain with her husband Elias Canetti in 1938 to escape the National Socialists, where she remained until the end of her life. The installation of the commemorative plaque took place within the framework of the project "VEZALEBT – Veza Canetti, a late anniversary in Vienna. Art, Literature, Music, Science" and in commemoration of her 50th anniversary of death. The installation of the commemorative plaque was initiated by Gertrude Moser-Wagner in collaboration with the Theodor Kramer Society.
