Gedenktafel Manfred Ackermann

At Manfred-Ackermann-Hof, Brigittaplatz 11-13, the borough representative office of Brigittenau placed a memorial plaque for the benefactor of the housing complex, Manfred Ackermann, on November 4, 2008. Manfred Ackermann was one of the founding members and first chairman of the Revolutionary Socialists following the prohibition of the Socialist Democratic Workers' Party (SDAP) by the Austrian-fascist regime. He was arrested twice before 1938 due to political persecution. With his wife Paula (née Popp) and son Peter, he fled to the USA upon Hitler's rise to power. Ackermann only returned to Vienna in 1964.
