Memorial Plaque Johann Mithlinger and Twelve Resistance Fighters

In the Johann-Mithlinger-Siedlung in the Neilreichgasse 100, the City of Vienna unveiled a memorial plaque for the namesake of the housing complex, Johann Mithlinger, and another one for twelve named anti-fascists on August 4, 1945. This is the first naming of a housing complex after a resistance fighter. This early decision of the city administration was confirmed by the municipal council committee on February 15, 1949. It was the first memorial plaque for executed resistance fighters that has been unveiled in Vienna since the liberation from National Socialism in the public urban space.
