Gedenktafel Jakob Kastelic

On November 26, 2008, a memorial plaque was unveiled at the Bundesgymnasium Fichtnergasse in Fichtnergasse 15, commemorating the jurist and resistance fighter Jakob Kastelic. Kastelic completed his military maturity examination at this gymnasium in 1915 and was sentenced to death in March 1944 for "high treason" during the National Socialist era, after several years of imprisonment. In August of the same year, the NS judiciary executed him. The plaque was erected by the school in collaboration with the district representative Hietzing. The unveiling took place as part of a commemorative ceremony, which was integrated into a multi-month school project on the NS era.
