On April 3, 1995, a memorial plaque was unveiled at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Vienna in Währinger Straße 42, commemorating the chemist Jacques Pollak. He was expelled from the University of Vienna in 1938 following the takeover of power by the National Socialists. In 1942, the Vienna "Central Office for Jewish Emigration" handed him over to the SS, deporting him to the Theresienstadt Ghetto. The exact circumstances of Jacques Pollak's death in Theresienstadt are unknown.
