On March 11, 2013, on the anniversary of the "Anschluss" of Austria to Nazi Germany, a memorial plaque was unveiled in the foyer of the Great Hall of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). It remembers the members of the ÖAW who were persecuted and murdered by the NS regime. The unveiling of the memorial plaque was part of a program to address the history of the ÖAW before, during and after the NS period.
