The memorial plaque for Egon Friedell was installed in 1994 on the façade of the building at Gentzgasse 7. It replaced a plaque erected in 1963. According to the Documentation Archive of the Austrian Resistance, Friedell did not choose suicide to avoid capture, but rather "fell from the window, fatally wounded by uniformed National Socialists".
