Since March 26, 2008, a memorial in the Leopoldstadt district of Odeongasse has commemorated the composer Alexander Zemlinsky. Zemlinsky had to flee before the antisemitic persecution policy of the National Socialists in March 1938. The bust, mounted on a column, shows Zemlinsky in immediate proximity to his birthplace. The memorial was initiated by the Zemlinsky Fund and designed and executed by the artist Josef Symon.
