Memorial 369 Weeks

The installation "369 Weeks" commemorates the victims of the national socialist judiciary who were executed at the Vienna Regional Court. The number 369 stands for the 369 weeks of NS rule in Vienna. The artwork was unveiled on April 21, 2015, in front of the Vienna Regional Court for criminal cases. The design is by Eva Schlegel. The memorial consists of a steel pyramid, whose surface has the inscription "369 WOCHEN (WEEKS)" cut out and illuminated. At the same time, the number 369 is projected onto that part of the façade of the Regional Court behind which the executioner carried out more than 1,200 death sentences. The inspiration for the title of the memorial comes from the resistance fighter Käthe Sasso. The monument was erected by the Concentration Camp Association (KPÖ), the Bund sozialistischer Freiheitskämpfer (SPÖ), and the ÖVP camaraderie of politically persecuted individuals with the support of Voestalpine.
