In memory of the victims from the Netherlands who were deported to the Mauthausen concentration camp during World War II, the Dutch memorial was erected in the international memorial park at the Mauthausen Concentration Camp Memorial and was presented to the public on May 9, 1986. The initiative was taken by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and was realized by the sculptor Appie Drielsma. On the inner side of the monoliths, plaques with the names of the Dutch victims are attached.
