Memorial Pyramid in front of the Place of Remembrance for Jewish Displaced Persons Givat Avoda (Peace)

The Memorial Pyramid, titled "Peace," is an extension of the memorial site of the "Givat Avoda" refugee camp. The memorial site before today's Anton-Wallner Barracks commemorates Jewish displaced persons and refugees who stayed in the camp between 1946 and 1948 on their way to Palestine or Israel. Initiated by the Alpine Peace Crossing association, the Memorial Pyramid was inaugurated together with a harp sculpture by Israeli artist Moshe Frumin on June 25, 2021. In total, seven Memorial Pyramids were built in 2013, describing the situation of Jewish displaced persons during their flight across the Alps in German, English, and Italian. Furthermore, in 2021, an additional Memorial Pyramid was added to the "Givat Avoda" memorial site to expand it. To depict the probable feelings of refugees during their Alpine crossing, each Memorial Pyramid is adorned with a central keyword.
