Andreas-Rieser-Platz

The Andreas Rieser Platz commemorates the native Dorfgasteiner parish priest, who also worked in Bramberg and was born on 1.7.1908 in Dorfgastein as the son of Josef and Theresia, born Herzog. Andreas Rieser already held an anti-national socialist stance during the early 1930s. During renovation works on the Dorfgasteiner church in 1938, Rieser was entrusted with placing a memorial inscription in the renovated church tower; however, the document was opened by the responsible spenglermeister and handed over to the NS local group due to its regime-critical content. Andreas Rieser was subsequently arrested in the summer of 1938 and deported to the Dachau concentration camp. Rieser remained interned throughout the entire NS period and survived. In memory of the priest, who also worked in Bramberg, the community renamed the square in front of the Bramberger church on 3. November 2013 to "Andreas-Rieser-Platz" and also installed a memorial plaque on the church wall.
