Memorial plaque for the victims of the "Euthanasie" at Konradinum Eugendorf

As a permanent or temporary accommodation, the Konradinum in Eugendorf offers people with psychological and physical impairments various support services to this day. During the NS period, it was a site of inhumane NS policies. Thus, NS authorities planned to relocate impaired children to different institutions. Under the leadership of Sr. Gräfin Anna Bertha Königsegg, the sisters had already previously transported 20 children to Mariathal near Kramsach in Tyrol, and another 13 children were relocated to the Pflegeheilanstalt Schernberg near Schwarzach, which the National Socialists subsequently seized. In January 1941, the authorities decided to deport the children, against which the sisters fiercely resisted. However, this resistance was in vain; from 16 April 1941 onwards, a large part of the children from the Konradinum, who had found refuge in Mariathal and Schernberg, were deported to extermination camps and murdered. The memorial plaque, located in the entrance area of the newly built building, commemorates the residents who were murdered due to psychological or physical impairments.
