Felix-Harta-Straße

In the Salzburg district of Salzburg Süd, a street was named after the Jewish artist Felix Harta in 1968. Harta, born in 1884 into a Jewish family in Budapest, was already fascinated by painting at an early age. After he had begun studying architecture at his father's request, he switched to a different field and attended an art school in Dachau. During his time in Salzburg, he worked for the revitalization of the Salzburg art scene. Although Harta converted to Catholicism, he was subjected to Nazi persecution due to his Jewish origins after the "Anschluss," which led him to migrate to England in 1939. He only returned to Salzburg in 1950, where he became a significant figure in the art scene. Felix Albrecht Harta died on November 27, 1967 in Salzburg.
