Memorial plaque for murdered priests in Dreifaltigkeitsgasse

The memorial plaque on the walls of the Salzburg Priest Seminary in the Dreifaltigkeitsgasse remembers four priests who were murdered due to their resistance against the NS regime. Although the Salzburg clergy could quickly come to terms with the NS regime after the "Anschluss," the church's property and spiritual real estate were nevertheless seized. In total, 85 clerics were sentenced to prison terms during the NS period, 122 priests were temporarily imprisoned, and 14 priests were deported to concentration camps. The marble plaque is dedicated to four of them. It was inaugurated on March 25, 2009, on the initiative of the Thalgau local historian Bernhard Iglhauser and the Thalgau mayor Martin Greisberger. The choice therefore fell on the building of the Priest Seminary, as it was assumed during the site search that the Priest Seminary had significantly contributed to the formation of the character of the four priests murdered by the National Socialists.
