Memorial plaque for László Blum near Kreuzstadl in Rechnitz

On the southwest side of the Kreuzstadl in Rechnitz, there is a marble plaque commemorating László Blum, placed by his nephew.
László Blum, born in 1923, was arrested in March 1944 following the Nazi invasion due to his Jewish origin and was deported as a forced laborer to the Bucsú camp, located near the present-day border between Burgenland and Hungary, to work on the Southeast Wall. During the evacuation of the camp, a group of approximately 180 to 200 sick and weakened deportees was separated at the Rechnitz train station and murdered in the night of March 24th to 25th, 1945, at the Kreuzstadl in Rechnitz. Among the victims was also László Blum.
