On June 17, 1994, a memorial plaque for Edmund Springer was unveiled during a solemn ceremony in the entrance area of the district police command in Güssing. The Gendarmerie post commander of Güssing, Edmund Springer, was dismissed from his service and later arrested on the night of March 11 to 12, 1938, by order of the NS authorities due to his Jewish origin and his conduct against the National Socialists prior to 1938. On August 10, 1938, Edmund Springer was deported to the Dachau concentration camp, where he died on February 28, 1939.
