In the Leithagebirge, northwest of Purbach, a memorial cross stands for Paul Schüller. This was erected by his nephews and nieces at an unknown date. The Purbacher Paul Schüller evaded military service by hiding in the forest in the Leithagebirge for several months. On August 18, 1941, Paul Schüller was discovered in the woods by a hunter and shot.
