On the initiative of Peter Huisza and the Neudorf/Novo Selo Museum and Culture Society, in 2005, the political community of Neudorf/Novo Selo placed a commemorative plaque at the local war memorial for the civilian victims of the village population. The bilingual plate, Croatian/German, notes Jive/Johann Kovaćić, who was murdered in the concentration camp Mauthausen, and ten additional villagers, two women and eight men, who perished during the Red Army's advance. Additionally, the plaque commemorates five former Jewish residents who died during the Nazi dictatorship.
