Memorial near former "Anhaltelager" in Frauenkirchen

In March 1938, an "Anhaltelager" was established in the former building of the Esterházy estate administration by the local National Socialists. For roughly two months, around 400 people, political opponents and members of the Jewish population from Frauenkirchen and the surrounding area, were detained, humiliated and beaten by the SA and the Gendarmerie. During their detention, the businesses of the Jewish population were particularly looted. The detainees were forced to sign a renunciation statement, committing themselves to surrendering their possessions to the state and leaving their home town Frauenkirchen. Only after signing this statement could they leave the "Anhaltelager".
On 12 March 2018, a memorial plaque was unveiled in front of the HAK/HAS Frauenkirchen building thanks to the efforts of the Gedenkverein Initiative Erinnern Frauenkirchen.
