In the foyer of the Klagenfurt City House, a memorial plaque was unveiled in 2019 in memory of those Carinthian writers who stood up for free speech during National Socialism and thus resisted. The initiative came from the Carinthian PEN Club, and the plaque was crafted by students from HTL Ferlach. The president of the PEN Club, Dr. Günter Schmidauer, emphasized during the official unveiling the importance of free speech and the relevance of artists as warning voices against dangerous tendencies.
