Memorial Stone for Anton and Anna Gastl at the Cemetery St. Stefan-Finkenstein/Fara Šteben-Bekštanj

At the southern wall of the church cemetery St. Stefan-Finkenstein/Fara Šteben-Bekštanj, there is a memorial with two white marble stelae. Originally, these stelae commemorated Erian-Grab Andrej and Marija Golob, as well as their daughter Marija Gastl, born Gallob. In 2008, Luise Ruhdorfer, the granddaughter of Marija Gastl, added two further names on the left stela: Anton Gastl, her grandfather, who was deported to the Dachau concentration camp as a Carinthian Slovene due to political resistance, where he died in February 1944. And Anna Gastl, her cousin, who was born at the Klagenfurt Gau hospital and died there only a few days old in June 1944 from malnutrition, after her mother had been transferred to the Ravensbrück concentration camp following her birth. The memorial was financially supported by Alois Gallob, vulgo Truppe in Greuth, and by Rudolf Wepfer, the grandson of Maria and Anton Gastl.
