Anton Kutej died in February 1941 in the Dachau concentration camp. In March of the same year, his burial took place at the St. Kanzianer Cemetery.
In subsequent years, his gravestone, which was written in Slovene, was embedded into the southern church wall. Nearby is also the memorial for the NS victims of the community of St. Kanzian, on which he was also mentioned by name.
