Memorial Plaque for Victims of Violence in the Community of Sittersdorf/Žitara vas

During World War I casualties at the cemetery in Sittersdorf/Žitara, memorial plaques honor the fallen, but until 2015, 24 residents of the community who died outside the Wehrmacht during National Socialism were not remembered. These 24 names are listed on a bilingual memorial plaque directly next to the war memorial to the left of the church entrance at the northwestern cemetery wall. They commemorate 24 citizens of the community who died due to their affiliation with the Slovenian ethnic group or for resistance activities, victims of Nazi euthanasia killings or partisan warfare.
