Memorial Plaque for the Railway Workers' Resistance at the Railway Station St. Veit/Glan

The memorial plaque commemorates seven railway workers who were executed for resisting the NS regime. Their sabotage acts against trains, such as cutting brake hoses or filling sand into axle bearings, were discovered and the men were arrested by the Gestapo in the autumn of 1941. In a trial in Klagenfurt in April 1942, they were sentenced to death for undermining military strength, preparation for high treason, aiding the enemy, and eavesdropping on enemy broadcasts. Two months later, on 30 June 1942, they were executed at the Vienna Regional Court.
