Franz-Reinisch-Platz Hall in Tirol

The Pallottiner father Franz Reinisch was a student of the Franciscan gymnasium in Hall and of the local secondary school fraternity Sternkorona. He was executed on 21.8.1942 in Berlin-Brandenburg because he refused to swear an oath to Adolf Hitler. Pastor Jakob Patsch requested the renaming of part of the parish square south of the city parish church of St. Nikolaus, which is in the possession of the parish, to „Franz-Reinisch-Platz“. He justified his request as follows: „A place in Hall named after him would recall his timeless message as an advocate of conscience.“ The town council of Hall approved the renaming on 13.12.2022. It came into effect on 1.1.2023. On 2.7.2023, the „Franz-Reinisch-Platz“ was officially opened during a memorial worship service.
