Memorial plaque for Helene Delacher at her birthplace Leisach-Burgfrieden

Helene Delacher was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. She was executed on 12.11.1943 in Berlin-Plötzensee due to her religious beliefs. In the course of efforts to place a Stolperstein for Helene Delacher, Gottfried Kalser, chairman of the Forum Mahnmal bei St. Andrä Lienz, initiated the installation of a memorial plaque at Rieplhof, Delacher's birthplace in the cadastral community Burgfrieden of Leisach. His persuasive power as well as the openness of the estate owner and his family made the installation of a memorial plaque possible. Kalser is a trained stonemason, and he positioned a protective angel from his own collection above the memorial plaque. In the presence of the victim's family members, representatives of the religious community, local press, and the mayor of Lienz, Elisabeth Blanik, the plaque was unveiled on 11.11.2023, the eve of the 80th anniversary of Helene Delacher's death.
