Amtsgebäude Steiner Innsbruck

The 1908 built, former Conrad barracks in Innsbruck was named after Field Marshal Franz Conrad von Hötzendorf. His role as chief of the General Staff of Austria-Hungary in the outbreak of the First World War made him a controversial historical figure. The barracks were decommissioned in 1991. Since then, it has been an administrative building with several functions and the seat of the Military Command of Tyrol. On 25.6.2025, the administrative building was renamed in a ceremony in the presence of Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner (ÖVP) and Security State Councillor Astrid Mair (ÖVP) as well as the heads of the federal army after the resistance fighter and former ÖVP top politician Ludwig Steiner.
