Erich Lederle was brought on 10.12.1940 from the Heil- und Pflegeanstalt Hall in Tirol to the Tötungsanstalt Hartheim near Linz and murdered there with gas. The mayor of Pians, Peter Rauchegger, took up an idea of the artist Franz Wassermann to set up a memorial for Erich Lederle. He pushed for the naming of a new bridge as part of the hiking and cycling trail into the Paznaun on the territory of Pians with the approval of the municipal council. The Erich Lederle Bridge over the Sanna was completed by the end of September 2006.
