Upon the initiative of Franz Wassermann (Artistic Project "Temporary Monument"), Vice-Mayor Josef Müller advocated for the establishment of a commemorative sign. As the marksmen and some members of the municipal council opposed a location on the old cemetery, the memorial plaque was placed near the urn graves in the new cemetery. The new artist Hansjörg Egger added crosses to the plaque, symbolizing the number of victims, as relatives had rejected naming their murdered family members. The inauguration was performed by Pastor Kurt Udermann on All Saints' Day 2005. Due to weather-related damage, the wooden plaque was replaced with a metal one.
