On August 3, 1944, an American bomber crashed into the forest behind Biberwier after being shot down by German aircraft. Four crew members lost their lives. Keith M. Bullock from Mils bei Imst, a former radar expert of the Royal Air Force, took the initiative together with the mountaineer Gerd Leitner from Ehrwald to erect memorials near eight crash sites of US aircraft in Tirol. In the summer of 2000, the two placed a plaque on a large stone along the panoramic path from Biberwier to Ehrwald, approximately 50 meters after crossing the lift trail.
