The memorial commemorates 142 people who were found, exhumed in May 1945 at the Military Shooting Range at Feliferhof and buried here on May 27, 1945, during a large anti-fascist demonstration. In 1967, the memorial received its current form. In 1996, due to the cenotaph being located in the middle of a soldiers' cemetery and designated as a soldier's memorial, a stone with explanatory text was placed in front of the memorial.
