Memorial Plaque for Father Reinisch, Parish Church St. Pankratius and Zeno

Franz Reinisch, born in 1903 in Feldkirch, was ordained a priest in 1928 and worked in various German cities. After the Nazi seizure of power, he clearly positioned himself against NS ideology, expressing critical views in his sermons and lectures. In 1940, the Gestapo imposed a preaching and speaking ban on him for the entire German Reich. When he was conscripted into the Wehrmacht in 1942, he refused to take the "Führer oath." Due to "weakening of military morale," Father Reinisch was sentenced to death by the Reichskriegsgericht and executed with a guillotine on August 21, 1942. A commemorative plaque in the Feldkirch St. Pankratius and Zeno Parish Church honors him.
