Carl Lampert Archiv Feldkirch

Carl Lampert, born in 1894 in Göfis, was the highest-ranking representative of the Catholic Church who was imprisoned, tortured, and ultimately executed by the National Socialists. Shortly after the "Anschluss" of Austria in March 1938, Carl Lampert came into ever stronger conflict with the ruling regime due to his statements. After being imprisoned in the concentration camps Dachau and Sachsenhausen-Oranienburg, Lampert was "gauverwiesen" in 1941 and banished to Stettin. On November 13, 1944, in Halle an der Saale, he was beheaded on charges of espionage. The Carl Lampert Forum in Feldkirch is an initiative of the Catholic Church in Vorarlberg. It keeps the memory of Carl Lampert alive in church and society.
