Gedenkweg-Station: Karoline-Redler-Weg Bregenz

Karoline Redler (1883-1940) was a businesswoman in Bregenz and founder of the association of Catholic women and girls. Redler always adhered to her political and religious convictions and was arrested on October 5, 1943, following a conversation in the waiting room of a doctor's office, where she allegedly blamed Germany for the war. From the prisons of Bregenz-Oberstadt and Feldkirch, she was transferred to Vienna in July 1944 and was charged with "undermining military strength and aiding the enemy." On November 8, 1944, she was executed at the Vienna Regional Court. The site is part of a memorial trail that has been commemorating resistance and persecution in Bregenz since 2002 with several memorial plaques.
