Gedenkweg-Station: Seekapelle Bregenz

On March 11, 1988, 50 years after the "Anschluss" of Austria to the German Reich, a memorial plaque was erected during a commemorative ceremony in the city of Bregenz. It was placed in the niche of the tower base of the Sea Chapel, intended to remember the victims of National Socialist tyranny. This plaque contains the names of those 16 Bregenzerinnen and Bregenzer, whose names are known to have been murdered by the National Socialists between 1938 and 1945. The site is part of a memorial path that has been commemorating resistance and persecution in Bregenz since 2002 with several memorial plaques.
