Bolnica GŠ NOV in POS, Novigrad, Zadar, Croatia

Due to the overcrowding of partisan hospitals with the wounded and sick, 512 patients were evacuated. The organizer was the Sanitation Department of NOV and POS at the end of 1944 and in January 1945. The hospital was organized at the Base of the Main Staff of the Slovene Partisan Units in Dalmatia, which provided Slovene units with weapons, food, and clothing. It was named the Hospital of the Main Staff of NOV and POS in Novigrad. It was located in three buildings, the Municipal House, Sokolski House, and the school. The administration consisted of the administrator, medical assistant Andrej Senica-Franjo, and political commissar Anton Valentinčić. Care was provided by the Command of the Zadar Military District. A surgical department was organized, led by Andrej Senica, and an internal department under the leadership of dr. Saine Praprotnik, an specialist in infectious diseases, who came from an Italian internment camp. Part of the hospital was relocated due to expansion to Zadar, in the building of the Hotel Bristol and partially damaged hospital "San Demetrio". In February 1945, 486 patients and 74 members of the staff were in the hospital.

Due to the significant increase in health institutions in Zadar, a Sanitation Department was formed at the Command of the Base of the Main Staff of NOV and POS, and for its head, dr. Janez Miličinski was appointed, who was sent to Dalmatia on 26 February 1945. The department was initially located in the Hotel Ilirija and later moved to the hospital. In early March 1945, the administrator of the hospital in Zadar was moved from the base in Topusko, dr. Zvezdana-Reja. The hospital had two surgical departments. The first was led by dr. Alfred Šerko, and the second by dr. Zlata Hribar. The head of the surgical service was dr. Milan Premrov.
