Church of Saints Fabian and Bosaint on Polana

On February 25, 1944, the town of Polana, and the village of Okroglice, hosted a night-long march through the cold and snow over Bohorje Pass by the 14th Division heading towards Štajersko.

Divisijski fotograf Jože Petek took a notable photograph upon arriving at the camp in Polana during the snow and under the church. The exact date of this incident was unknown until long after.

The photo was discovered by journalist Ilustrirani tednik ITD Janez Kajzer and Joco Žnidaršič in 1977, who found it near a place where partisans from Loče pri Zidanem Mostu often stand facing known Lovrenc (a Franciscan church, a well-known local landmark). They have traditionally taken such positions.

Mojač Luštrek noted the date of the photograph's appearance as February 12, 1944. The XIVth Division had already completed its march towards Štajersko by February 25, 1944.
